Ching said in another thread something like this: "it is not the number of posts which is important, it is how intellegent the posts are". I so agree with him. Id rather just see a post count listed rather than words like seedling. I did like and hate the reputation points. I loved reading the reason points were awarded; that was personal and touching. I hated the public display of those points. I did OK pont wise; what I didnt like was how important those points started to become to me - ugly pride - I was convicted. Id still like to give points to posts I like such as Chings that I probably misquoted.

Years ago in the begining of OGF, reputation points were named Karma points. And during that time, it was possible to view someones Karma points and comments on their member profile page.

I too think it being private is probably for the best.
But I would be lying if I didn't mention that I LOVED reading others Karma comments. And I don't recall there being anything bad in them either. Well, it was the very begining of OGF, so I'm sure that as time goes on, and more people have joined, that there has been, and will be, differences of opinion.

I liked em....got a few negative too, but whatever,...I was the only one who saw em. More positive for sure, but at least it gave those who wanted to, a chance to chime in on a more personal level.
Some of them surprised me, the source and all. But all were appreciated. As I recall a few ne'erdo wells, galloped thru once in awhile, adding rep points indiscriminatly as a prank I guess. These were soon intercepted by mods and all went on as usual.
