I was listeningig to C-span several days ago. Amendments were added to the ORS section. I noticed the committee included Alzheimer's Disease to the list of conditions for medical marijuana. The bill passed.
A short list of the amendments are:
+ agitation due to Alzheimer's disease
{ + SECTION 6. + } { + The amendments to ORS 475.320 by
section 5 of this 2007 Act become operative on July 1, 2008. + }
See SB 161-B for more details.

Awesome news! I had heard that Alzheimer's was...or was going to be, added....the agitation caused by the disease can be horrible, along with the disease it'self being devastating:(. I'm glad that more is being used for.....geeze, can't think. I'm glad the use of MMJ has been/is going to be, added! (Until MJ is legalized, period!)

Actually Alzheimers was added as a qualifying condition by Administrative rule several years ago. THe Legislature bringing the statute in line with the rule is what occured (among other things) with SB 161. It is a good thing that the Legislature approved this (by overwhelming votes) because it reaffirms the rule.

Thank you for your knowledge rancher. I really did think I saw it on renewal for the dr.....but my new dr had never filled one out, so one day as I mentioned using MMJ again....he wrote out everything he thought he needed onto an RX note:eek:. It worked.
My oldest sister is being treated for ''early Alzheimers", which I think may not be the thing to do...she is 61 yrs old, and has Downs Syndrome! But that's another thing:wub_anim:

THC attacks the fatty build-ups that chacterize Alzheimer's, and helps to preserve a brain chemical necessary for cell function. It has also been shown to inhibit the uptake of amyloid salts, that many feel cause Alzheimer's.
This is an important event, because over 71,000 people in Oregon have Azheimer's. Now they all qualify for the OMMP.
