We are excited to have Portland based lawyer Lee Berger as our special guest this month. If you haven't heard about him, he is one of the authors of the original OMMA and works tirelessly defending your rights as a medical cannabis patient. He will be giving a legislative update as well as answering your questions. He is not your typical lawyer type as those of you who have met him will testify to!
We are also hoping another special guest will come and share her experience and how to get out a make a difference.....
Badfootyu50 and Berserker101 have hamburgers on the menu this month and of course ClozetGrl will have fantastic items for the raffle.
I have invited some local Westside legislators as well that are on the West side so maybe a follow up invite from you, their constituant? You can find their e-maill addy here: http://www.leg.state.or.us/findlegsltr/
Come and help us make this a great meeting!

What a beautiful sunny day for a BBQ with Lee! The officer I dropped the key off with after the meeting commented how polite and how nice we all seemed and how much fun we were having. I thought it was great when we got to sing happy birthday to Lee's 79 year old mother who was in Washington DC.
Lee gave a great history of medical cannabis in Oregon and an overview of some of the proposed legislation cuurently being considered. He also made it very clear how we need to be involved personally as individual patients and become self appointed meddlers as 'our liberty is not secure whenever the legislature is in session'. Polls have shown that nationwide - red states even - the approval rate among ALL the people for medical cannabis is 80 to 90 percent so why in the %#@* is the congress not passing laws to make this all easier on us all? The people are way ahead of the government on this issue and we need to make sure they represent US! We need to be talking to our own legislators as like Lee said - if you leave it up to him it will not be nearly as effective as it would be for you and your family to visit your own legislator and tell your own story.
We welcomed some brand new faces at the meeting  and welcomed back some friends we hadn't seen for a while :D ! We took a moment to honor our Willow and many of us showed up in tie dye (including Lee Berger) to show our respect. Badfooty and Berserker were cooking up a storm, where else can you get burger, chips and a soda for a buck? I heard mention of steaks on the BBQ in June but I will let Badfooty and Berserker fill you in on that!!! ClozetGrl and Growing4you had some outstanding raffle items this time and several people won who had not won before!!! Thanks to Dolphinlady for helping out as well!
Thanks to big stevo for coordinating the clone exchange with MrClone and FREEB1RD - everyone went home with babies that were needing them. The brand new cardholders went home with some medicine as well.
Thanks all for coming and of course to Madfingers for his continued support. I was impressed with many of your good questions and comments.
Next month hyb. will return just in time for your outdoor garden and he will be answering your grow questions along with Mr.Bad.Example - I look forward to this!
Lots of people headed over to MAMAs after that - what a great day!

It was indeed another great meeting. I encourage anyone who missed Lee Berger speak today to catch him next week the the pdx/east meeting. For people who don't know, Lee Berger is a private defense attorney specializing in (Oregon) cannabis law. He has been and is an extremely instrumental reason of why and how WE ARE ALL ABLE TO ENJOY THE MEDICINE WE HAVE TODAY.
Most people are politically inactive. They don't vote. They don't voice their opinion to the people who can make a difference (legislators). They do bitch to their friends and neighbors though. If this is you, take your passion and turn it into a letter and email your representatives. It would only take you as long as it does for you to log into OGF every day and read the new messages. If they (representatives) do not hear your opinion, they assume you have none or don't care. They don't vote the way we want them to because they don't know how many of us truly care. If we want a better system, we need to make it happen.
What do you really want? Who are you telling?

Definitely the best west meeting I've been to. Lee Berger was very informative, and doesn't talk to us like fellow constituents, or down to us because of our conditions. It put a completely different feeling inside me. Good feeling that is. It just made me feel comfortable about all this legislative stuff. Thanks alot Lee.

It was great seeing everyone at the meeting! Thanks to everyone who helped organize it and all who showed up on such a glorious sunny day. Berserker and Badfooty, the hamburgers were awesome, thanks. I was also lucky enough to win a beautiful, brand new OGF PDX west t-shirt!!!! I'll be wearing it with pride, much appreciated!
See you all very soon, hopefully! :thumbsup_anim:
