OGF needs to STAND AND BE COUNTED TODAY: Please read and TAKE ACTION, NOW!
_____________
Dear Members, If you care about our Program, and you EVER want to WORK again in this state, please read this and make PHONE CALLS TO YOUR STATE SENATORS TODAY!
I have pasted a direct link at the bottom of this, so all you have to do is plug in your own town and address and it will show you WHO you need to call to STOP this ATTACK ON OUR MMJ PROGRAM!
Here is the deal:
The Forces of Darkness ( herein referred to as FODs...) have concocted a REAL THREAT TO OUR PROGRAM. They are trying to make it so WE WILL NEVER WORK AGAIN IN THIS STATE.
They are trying desperately to RAM-ROD THROUGH A HORRIBLE BILL -SB#465 TOMORROW!!
- It will INSTITUTIONALIZE EMPLOYMENT DESCRIMINATION ON US - ALL MMJ USERS.
This is a TERRIBLE DIRECT THREAT to the whole program...nobody will join the OMMP - if they think that they will "never work again in this state"!!!
What's even MORE insulting...is that yesterday....DOZENS OF MMJ ADVOCATES WENT DOWN TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS YESTERDAY, when they held a fakey-"Last Minute Called" Hearing on this onerous, DESCRIMINATORY measure!.....So, apparently NOW THEY ARE AFRAID OF US, because we showed them that we are a VOCAL, INTELLIGENT group of voters who will NOT just stand by and let our employment rights be dessimated! They reaize now that they will NOT be able to pass this, if the FODs do not CHEAT...by trying to force a vote on this TOMORROW!!!!
SO.....Why YOU ( yes...YOU!) need to CALL YOUR SENATORS RIGHT NOW ....is:
-THEY ARE BANKING ON US NOT BEING ABLE TO ORGANIZE ANY EFFECTIVE PROTEST BY TOMORROW.....THAT IS WHY YOU NEED TO CALL TODAY!.....Please!
All you need to tell them in your brief phone call is:
"DO NOT PASS SENATE BILL 465,
- BECAUSE IT WILL INSTITUTIONALIZE EMPLOYMENT DESCRIMINATION
AGAINST SICK PATIENTS LIKE YOU AND ME!!!
PLEASE, PLEASE DO THIS NOW....
-Here is the link to tell you WHO is YOUR senator and their phone numbers:

As I sit here trying to process the un-believable fast paced, biased support, of SB465, I must take a moment to write to the senate in its entirety.
As a child I was raised a Democrat, as my mother was and her mother before her. I believed everything my party stood for, believing that Democrats held the greatest honor and dedication to personal freedoms and would defeat those who would try to take those away. My most memorable 8th grade field trip was the one that lead me to the State Capitol for the day, to see how government worked. As a child, I was in awe, filled with admiration for those in power feeling so very secure that I was protected.
My experience in meeting with many of you is that this is no longer the case. I have learned this, first hand. It is disheartening, frustrating at the very least, to see the mis-truths embraced and made fact without foundation, to make a law that violates my due process, violates my rights to experience equal protection and makes legal, discrimination applicable to a very small minority group of sick people. These people, your people, only wish to maintain a productive life. A life they have created and worked for, earned by being gainfully employed. They do not seek illness, disability and injury to use “pot”. They have chosen to use an alternative herbal remedy that you may hold a personal bias against. Yet some of you have witnessed your own family members and friends experience the medical benefits of cannabis. Conversely you place yourself in a position of expertise or of an opinion that you don’t think all people have an equal right to also have that experience unless it is for circumstances of a “death-bed” disease and most certainly not for those who are still physically capable of working simply because it is cannabis medicine.
You cannot fathom the notion that productive OMMP participants could or should have the right to also realize the same benefits without prejudice. I am ashamed and saddened.
As a constituent last November, I fought hard with great hope and certainty that having democrats in majorities across America could only prove beneficial to all.
Thus far I feel I was nothing more than a naive silly dreamer.
You have a chance to change my impression. You have a chance to let the citizen’s of Oregon see you do the right thing, by voting in opposition of SB465.
I have traveled many miles to visit the capitol as often as I can. It has not only been a financial hardship but more importantly a physical hardship, for I too tax my physical capabilities to make that journey.
This alone is something of an unnecessary burden on the hurting and ill, to have the additional stresses of watching those in power, those with a financial advantage take advantage of people like me, by lobbying for the bills that are chipping away at our program the voter’s gave to us in 1998. Alarmingly the majority of you keep supporting those people, in those positions, over “doing the right thing”.
Forget not where you came from and how you got where you are, what the reasons were, in the beginning for becoming who you are, where you are.
The only way for you to right the wrong that SB465 carries with it, is to use your vote tomorrow, with consideration and the knowledge in your heart that it is the ONLY “right thing to do” for the people, your people. Do not allow the influence of big business and corporate interests to influence your vote.
Your vote tomorrow must be in opposition of SB465. Oregonians deserve this.
Thank you

I just called mine and left a message with the person that answers the phone. She was somewhat abrupt, but did ask me for my name and address(and spelling) at the end of the conversation and reported that she would pass the message along to the senator.
I encourage EVERYBODY that can to call!!!

Sen. David Nelsons office was fairly unaware of the bill and at first poopoohed the thought that it would come up for a vote on the floor after having just been in committee yesterday. upon my encouragement, the nice lady actually looked up the bill and confirmed that it had gone thru committee with a do pass recommendation, but state she still doubts it could come up for a vote so soon.
She said as soon as the office was aware it was coming up for a vote, without any amendments tacked on to change it, they would study it at that time
she said she would pass my comments on to my senator.
She also started out by saying she thought the bill was introduced by employers who were seeing pot users show up impaired on the job. We had a nice talk about the number of patients legitimately approved for mmj and about other prescriptions, and the methods of determining impairment. She was polite and nice throughout, as was yours truly.

Just heard back from my friend who just heard back from Sen. Starr. He said there was basically no changing his mind on this one, he feels that employers and other workers need to be protected. I guess sick and dying(in some cases) patients don't count!!!! :verymad:

Good job all you who put yourself forward, to stand for our medicinal rights. I'm sure even though the phones are down for the day, there would still be a chance to send emails to the senators. They may be amazed to open up the email in the morning, to a bunch more support. I am new at this so please, those of you that have dealt with the Gov. more often, is this correct. I don't want to give bad advice. But I also don't want to give up until the bell rings. Many people may have been at work today, that could still do that. What do ya think folks? Do we need to be there like monday if we can, and what time, or is it closed?

Send emails through the night and get back on the phones in the morning, before the vote.
How this first bill is handled, will somewhat determine how much work we have ahead of us.

I might have been a little abrupt  When I ask my senator Verger why she wanted to hurt sick people and that as a 3rd generation coos county voter, I would tell everybody I know and more how she voted. Then I ask her how her Karma was, and to vote correctly. Peace
