Ya know, I love the fact that I can hook up with all my peeps here with the flic of a mouse. The internet is pretty cool. But there is definitely a downside.
I admire the geeks that so calmly confront and solve the glitches, and MAN, are there glitches.
The technology really sucks! It is overly complicated....constantly changing...no consistency, except in the consistent glitches.
Just turn on your puter and connect to the www and you are vulnerable to any number of nefarious activities and downright maliciousness specifically designed to invade your privacy, steal your information, spam your ass, or ruin your equipment. I hate it.
I have a brand new computer.. 3 weeks after plugging it in....it freakin crashed!
I paid enough for it, I should be able to drive it to the Quicky Mart...and 3 weeks old and I might as well have a cookie tin sitting here next to the printer for all the good I was getting. Brand New!
I will commend Dell for getting a tech to my house to replace the hard drive in a matter of 3 business days. But that was after at least 3 hours on the phone, talking with techs from here to Bali. That's right, one was in Canada, and I swear one had such a heavy East Indian accent, I had to have his supervisor come to the phone...I got frustrated with having to ask, Pardon me? what? could you repeat that? ARGHHHHHHHHHH.
One call had me with the puter turned on it's side and the cover off, and me with a flashlight, trying to find this memory card and that memory card. Had me under my desk, unplugging shit and plugging it back in! For a non geek it was trying, to say the least.
Well that is just a small sample of some of the probs...registering new product, spywear, reloading programs...blah blah blah...I hate it.
Then, no sooner than you get confident that you must have all of the safeguards against viruses and invasive bullshit...someone somewhere figures another way thru the firewall, and the whole thang starts again.
I am sure this is nothing new to many...just as I am certain there must be someone who has had an opposite experience. It's just that for someone who grew up without a micro wave oven...and was used to phones that worked all the time, it is just a bit exasperating this miracle technology of the modern age. Pfffffft!
Ahhhh......I feel better now!
best.

There ya go, Bro... get it outta yer system ;)
I used to be a geek. I was a web designer, server tech, admin, sysop and all of it back to the days when floppies were 8.5", you saved to tape, and we loaded programs initially by typing them in by hand.
Now I grow medicine...
Once a geek...
