I posted this under politics and no-body cared so I'm posting it under a different name... PLEASE READ ON... PLEASE ACT ! OUR LEGISLATORS ARE GOING TO ACT ON THIS IN FEBRUARY 2008 ! ! !

Thank you Neal for bringing that link to us. I have copied a bit of it here again..

The priority bill for the Business and Labor Committee is to give employers the option to regulate medical marijuana users in dangerous jobs. A broader version of the bill passed in the Senate but stalled in the House.
"I don't know what the language is going to be, and it's much more narrow, but I'm confident" it will pass," says committee chairman Rep. Mike Schaufler, D-Happy Valley.
"I don't think it will cause any major tension in the February session."

It appears as though they are going try yet again and we know that it has never been a dead subject around the house or the senate. The drug re-hab lobbiest are still spending money and paying people to be in the legislators faces over this issue. They still feel that they can get this passed and fatten their pockets by having the marijuana patients and many others in State and business sponsored re-hab to keep or get another job. Remember that these are the people that own the re-hab facilities. so they would get what... maybe 5,000 dollars or more for each "abuser" that "has" to be in "their program."

PLEASE call your senator or representative and tell them how you feel. If you have a Dr. or boss that is symapthetic and supportive... PLEASE ASK that employer or Doctor to call or write to their Senator or Representative.

There are several of us that will be again walking the halls of the Capital in Salem.. I DO NOT WANT MY JOB OR MY OMMP IN JEOPARDY. IT IS WORTH MY EFFORT. and it should be worth yours.

We can't afford the paid lobbyests and it will take many more of us than it does of them but WE CAN BEAT THIS!

One of the major hurdles we have to tear down is that they think that the OMMP and our Medicine was only for those who would be unable to work because of debilitating and terminal illness. They think that this law was only for those who would be DEAD SOON.

We need them to know that our medicine makes it possible to be working. We need them to know that our medicine makes life livable for us. We need them to know that we would rather be working safely with our medicine instead of working unsafe and addicted to marcotic prescriptions.. (They think a narcotic pill IS OK to be at work with) I think they need to be really educated better.

Time is short and the seesion is short but our medicine law and our program IS IN JEOPARDY still.

PLEASE MAKE A RESOLUTION THIS YEAR TO GET YOUR BUTT OUT OF THE CLOSET AND TALK TO THEM AND TO EVERYBODY YOU MEET ABOUT WHAT MMJ DOES FOR YOU. GET YOUR DOCTOR AND YOUR BOSS OUT OF THE CLOSET AND ASK THEM TO JOIN IN THIS IMPORTANT FIGHT. Talk to the person next to you at the check out stand or on the bus.. Join us in writing to editors.. Join us on the newspaper blogs..

We need your help... you need our help... Can we see you there?
Can your Senator see you there?

Love Ya ALL...

Oh by the way... Just my thoughts.. but MY life is better because I am public now about this medicine that they tell us has to be private. If it's private then they will win.

I have been having this discussion with a number of friends of mine. I testified at the public hearing. It is time for marijuana users, medical and otherwise to come out of the closet. There are far more of us than there are gays and lesbians (some of whom are also marijuana users), and it is time to fight for our rights or lose the modest gains we have made. Gays and lesbians have made great strides by coming out of the closet and fighting for their rights. Some have lost their lives in the struggle. It is arguably a different issue, but it is still one based on individual liberties -- our freedom!!

Is this a free country? Do we believe we should have the right to use marijuana without fear of punishment? It is time to speak up. I know doctors, nurses, pharmacists, attorneys, accountants, engineers, biochemists, physicists, construction workers, contractors, realtors, lenders, and more who regularly use marijuana. This is a movement that needs to be joined. It is sad that so many are so afraid, or we could change things!

I agree with Jetson!

I have always thought it would be a real eye opener if every one who used Cannabis regularly, were to wake up and be green for a day.:o

We all thank you and
Welcome to the Bright side!
A couple of years ago, I asked one of the administrators here how I could be of help around here.. He's a pretty good guy... He invited me to get involved in the political side as an activist.. I think that was one of the best offers I could have been given.. It has truly been the right thing do do.

There are so many threads and posts to be found in an OGF search. There are many here who sincerely everyday work for all of us. They will help you on your way any any time... just ask. They will smile and stand beside you in the Capital hall.. the main street parade and even before the judge they will be there for you and with you.

Welcome , there is a lot to be done always.

We could post a list that would give the Word Association Game a run for it's money. Now wouldn't that be impressive sitting on somebodys desk when we need their vote.

Most of them are proud to stand up and say I am on THIS side the right side! And very rightly so.

Love Ya all.

it is time to fight for our rights

Do we really know what we're fighting against though?

I'm a rational, logical thinker and cannot think of any logical, rational reason why a nonpoisonous plant that makes a person placid and docile should be illegal.

So there is some hidden reason why it's illegal. Maybe pharmaceutical companies lose millions of dollars every time medical MJ legislation is passed in another state; so they push for and fund the "war on drugs".

If that's the case then we need to convince pharmaceutical manufacturers to start growing MJ and profiting from it.

Maybe law enforcement agencies make more money by busting pot growers and seizing their assets than they would save by not having to enforce marijuana laws. If that's the case then we have to present a viable business plan that would show how government will profit more by taxing MJ sales.

Maybe it's about funding. If MJ was legalized nationwide, there would be less "work" for the law enforcement agencies and court systems and prisons. Local agencies would lose some state funding and state agencies would lose some federal funding. While citizens would see the decrease in costs as a good thing, those who are employed in law enforcement and the legal system would see it as a reduction in job security and possible reductions in income.

Maybe the main enemy is misinformation. The American public is very easy to manipulate through mass media. Marijuana 'busts' are in the news much more frequently than positive reports about its medical benefits. The majority of the American public sees marijuana use as abuse. They don't see it in the same way as they see drinking a glass of wine once per night vs. being an alcoholic - responsible use vs. abuse.

Perhaps it's a combination of all these things. In any case, it should be (should be, I don't know why it's not) clear to anyone that there's no logical reason for MJ to be illegal.

It seems that it should even be unconstitutional... although I suspect our supreme court justices would laugh at the notion.

I see the concept of outlawing marijuana in the same light as outlawing coffee, tea or peppermint. These are all natural harmless plants which some people enjoy and some people don't. Government has no business interfering with our enjoyment of earth's natural vegetation.
